Avoir – to Have

I have – je ai > contracts together to make j’ai
you (informal, singular) have – tu as > does not contract together, but remains 2 separate words
he has – il a
she has – elle a
we have – nous avons
you (formal or plural) have – vous avez
they (masculine or mixed) have – ils ont
they (feminine) have – elles ont

examples –
I have a puppy – J’ai un chiot
You have a notebook – Tu as un cahier
She has a chair – Elle a une chaise
We have the cushions – Nous avons les coussins
You (formal) have a book – Vous avez un livre
They (mixed) have the pens – Ils ont les stylos
